A new report from MSNBC reveals which vehicles boast the best fuel-efficiency. It’s a useful listing as summer nears and gas prices top $4 and even $5 per gallon. Placing fifth in the report is the 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid, which scores 44 miles per gallon and an estimated fuel cost per year of just $1,268. The vehicle is actually available in about seven different models, starting at just $15,805 — though adding luxury options can bring the price closer to $30,000. Only three years after accepting a major government bailout, General Motors Co. has replaced Toyota as the world’s top-selling automotive company. GM recently revealed it had sold just over nine million cars and trucks last year, an increase of 7.6-percent over 2010. Toyota demonstrated a futuristic car today that looks like a giant smartphone on wheels, complete with touch-screen body. The company’s president unveiled the experimental concept car, dubbed Fun-Vii, at a press event just before the Tokyo Auto Show. The car is intended to demonstrate Toyota’s effort to lead the way in connected car technology by giving a different take on exterior design possibilities.
