BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide, V2X for Bikers

Will bikers accept electronic devices tracking their every move – even for a safer ride? It’s the first time we’ve seen vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) telematics solutions being developed for motocycles. BMW Motorrad is developing ConnectedRide, an intelligent transportation system specially designed to help keep bikers safe. BMW Mini Connected App

BMW’s Mini now has an app that matches the vehicle’s music selection to the driving style of the wheelman (or wheelwoman). It’s one part of the recently improved Mini Connected application for the Apple iPhone.

So, how can the app tell if you’re barrelling across the country like Steve McQueen or daintily driving Miss Daisy? According to reports, the app actually links up with the Mini’s internal computer in order to retrieve information on your typical speed and the rapidity of your steering wheel movements. BMW’s awkwardly-named X3 xDrive35i has been named an “Editor’s Choice,” and not by a big-name auto magazine like Motor Trend or Car and Driver. Instead, the acclamation comes from CNET News, one of the web’s most-read technology blogs and review databases.
